McDonald’s Deflects #Fightfor15 Protests with ‘America’s Best First Job’ Videos

As activists rallied for a higher minimum wage Tuesday, fast-food giant McDonald’s didn’t directly address the protests. Instead, the company is presenting a counterargument on social media, tweeting personal videos from their employees designed to show that working at McDonald’s is, as the company puts it: ” America’s best first job.”

The Fight for $15 movement has notched a string of victories over the past couple of years, getting higher minimum wage legislation passed in the states of California and New York as well as several cities. Earlier this month, McDonald’s announced that it was going to begin installing touchscreen ordering kiosks in its restaurants, which should allow restaurants to serve more customers with fewer workers.
